A SPECTACLE TO BEHOLD
Leeds Dock was thrilled to play a key role in the 20th edition of Light Night Leeds, the UK’s largest light art festival, which returned this October with an awe-inspiring programme of events. Attracting significant footfall, the festival brought life and energy to the Dock, showcasing its unique charm and vibrant community to thousands of visitors.
One of the standout installations at the Dock was the mesmerising Monad by Norwegian artist Anastasia Isachsen. Projected onto a mist of water, the artwork captivated audiences with its poetic reflection on the elements of life. This breathtaking display perfectly complemented the festival’s ethos of celebrating the intersection of art, community and imagination.
Another major highlight was the 5-metre fire-breathing dragon outside the Royal Armouries, which drew large crowds throughout the event. Inspired by carnival traditions from Trinidad and Tobago, this vibrant performance combined high-energy percussion, dazzling fire effects and dynamic artistry, creating an unforgettable spectacle for visitors of all ages.
Leeds Dock was abuzz with excitement as our diverse range of occupiers extended their opening hours to welcome festival-goers. From the cosy ambiance of Hold Fast Bookshop to the bustling street vendors and restaurants along the waterfront, the Dock became a hub of activity. Visitors explored everything Leeds Dock has to offer, from its cultural attractions to its welcoming social spaces, discovering the beauty and vibrancy of our creative district in the heart of the city.
We were delighted to see so many people join us for this spectacular event, which further established Leeds Dock as a must-visit destination within the city’s creative landscape. The strong turnout and positive feedback from visitors reinforced the Dock’s importance to the city’s artistic and cultural identity.
As the lights dim on this year’s festival, we’re already counting down the days until Light Night Leeds 2025. We can’t wait to once again transform the Dock into a magical canvas for art, performance and celebration.
