REBACK TO THE FUTURE
– Book Repair Book Binding Demo & Consultation
EVENT: Thursday 20 April, 6pm – 8pm
Linette of Anachronalia is a Leeds-based heritage bookbinder with a background in Medieval Studies at the University of Leeds. During this free drop-in book repair demonstration, Linette will advise how to rescue much-loved books from the dangers of Sellotape and yearly wear-and-tear.
Linette has been binding books since 2005 and since 2012 has worked as a professional bookbinder, producing books and stationery that are inspired by historical examples. Linette has repaired books both for The Leeds Library and for private clients and teaches basic book repair in her city-centre studio (most recently with broken books donated by Holdfast Books).
In the cosy surroundings of Holdfast’s bookshop-on-a-boat, learn about bookbinding and publishing history, and discover the work that goes into making and looking after new and old books. There will be an opportunity to get early booking onto future bookbinding courses, peruse a small selection of Anachronalia’s handmade notebooks and stationery, and have your own book or books assessed for repair.
This event is FREE to attend.
Repair consultations are £3/person, with a maximum of 2 books/person.
To register for FREE, either DM Holdfast on social media here or pop into Holdfast to let staff know.
