Celebrate International Women’s Day with Leeds Girls Can at Leeds Dock

Save the date! Leeds Girls Can have a jam-packed day of celebrations planned for International Women’s Day on Saturday 5 March at the Royal Armouries Plaza from 12pm to 3pm.

From yoga to roller skating, table tennis to swimming, buggy walks to climbing walls, there will be a variety of FREE taster sessions on offer for guests.

In addition, there will also be a 5km guided fun run, artists from the local community as well as information from Cancer Wise Leeds.

Session times will be released on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

About Leeds Girls Can

Leeds Girls Can is part of the national This Girl Can campaign developed by Sport England together with a range of partners to encourage women to take part in sport.

They want the women of Leeds to run, roll, move, pedal, swim and shoot for the netball hoop. If you want to try a new sport or get back into a sport that you previously loved now is the time!

Getting to Leeds Dock

By Bus

The City Bus South Bank (service 70) runs directly from the Leeds Rail Station Bus Interchange (outside Leeds Railway Station) to Leeds Dock. The bus runs every 12-15 minutes Mon-Sun. The bus stops on Chadwick street, which runs directly alongside Leeds Dock. For timetable information, click here.

By Water Taxi

The water taxi service runs every Saturday from 10am-6pm. A journey costs just £1/person. Children under 5 can ride for FREE. The water taxi departs from the south entrance to Leeds Central Train Station (outside Fazenda) and stops at Leeds Dock (outside the Royal Armouries Museum). Please note that in the event of bad weather or high water levels, that the water taxi service will be unable to operate. This will be communicated on the Facebook page.

If you’re driving there is plenty of parking either on streets nearby or in the CitiPark multistorey at Leeds Dock.

By Foot / By Bike

Leeds Dock is is next door to The Royal Armouries, a 10 minute stroll or cycle from Leeds Central Train Station and Trinity shopping centre.
