The Queen’s Baton for the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay champions the individuality in humanity and celebrates bringing people together. The Baton is entwined with unique components and displays connectivity to represent the power of collaboration.

On 7 October 2021, at a special event at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty The Queen placed her message to the Commonwealth into the Baton, signifying the start of the 294-day Relay to the 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth. As it travels, the Baton is inspiring people to come together and host moments of celebration ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Travelling via land, air and sea, more than 180 communities in England will experience the Queen’s Baton on a route spanning 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometres).

The Baton returns to England on Monday 4 July to commence a 25-day tour of the regions with activities and notable visits throughout.

Stopping at Leeds Dock on Tuesday 12 July, baton bearers will take part in a 10 minute run around the estate, beginning precisely at 5:25pm and ending at 5:35pm with a celebration scheduled at Leeds Dock gantry (opposite Tesco Express).

Spectators are very welcome. There will also be flag making, table tennis, mini tennis, athletics on a pop-up running track and an outdoor bootcamp available for visitors to take part in from 4pm – 5:15pm.

The baton will then leave for the city centre at 5:45pm.
